Red Sox (48-33) pitcher Jon Lester pitched into the eighth inning, but left with an injury after striking out five and giving up five hits and four runs.

Lester struggled with control issues in the first, but settled down.  The Red Sox would strike Blue Jays (39-39) starter Chien-Ming Wang with seven runs in the bottom of the second, capped off by a Dustin Pedroia two-run homer.

Lester (8-4) has a 8.44 ERA in June.  Wang dropped to 1-1 in his fourth start of the season with Toronto, after pitching only 1 2/3 innings.

Boston has a 7.5-game lead on Toronto in the A.L. East.
