Russia’s Vladimir Putin Announces Divorce

Sasha Mordovets/Getty Images(MOSCOW) — Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Thursday that he and his wife are divorced.
The news may not have been a total surprise, but the announcement was. Rumors had been swirling about the couple for years. The last time they had been seen together in public was at Putin’s inauguration 13 months ago.
A reporter for state-run television interviewed the couple as they left a ballet and asked about “rumors” that they don’t live together. Putin said it was true. His wife said it’s because they barely see each other.
