Linton Chief of Police Troy Jerrell said the identity of the body has not been confirmed, pending an autopsy, but said authorities had “enough information at this time to lead us to believe this is Katelyn Wolfe.”

Jerrell said police are treating her case as a homicide investigation, but declined to say how she was killed.

Just after midnight, Jerrell said Randal E. Crosley and Jordan W. Buskirk were taken into custody on suspicion of murder.

“They knew what they were doing all along,” Jerrell told ABC News affiliate WRTV. “We don’t believe it was an accidental type thing.”

He declined to elaborate on what led police to the suspects.

No further information is expected to be released until the autopsy has been completed.

Wolfe, 19, disappeared from her Linton, Ind., home around 3 a.m. on June 6. The search for the missing teen began hours after she posted an ominous Facebook message indicating that she was “out on a walk with creeps that keep driving by,” WRTV reported.

The teen’s disappearance sparked a massive search of the area by law enforcement, who were joined by dozens of volunteers.

“This is a tight, close knit community we have here,” Jerrell said. “[There has been] an overwhelming response from friends and relatives and acquaintances of Katelyn’s that are willing to go out and help and have been very supportive of the family.”
