Serena Williams Delivers in First Round at Wimbledon
Published at(LONDON) — Putting her comments in the past about Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams cruised to a first round 6-1, 6-3 victory over Mandy Minella on Tuesday.
Williams is now 68-8 at the All England Club and is coming off a French Open title.
“For me, it’s the greatest moment for a tennis player, to walk out on Centre Court,” Williams said. “That was such a great moment too. So many great memories on this court.”
The defending Wimbledon champion has now won 32-straight matches after her win over Mienlla.
“I don’t think about it,” Williams said about her streak. “Every single time I step out on the court it’s a new match.”
