Snider Delivers in 11th, Pirates Beat Reds, 5-4
Published at(PITTSBURGH) — The Jolly Roger was raised on Sunday after Travis Snider delivered a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the eleventh inning to give the Pirates (35-22) a 5-4 win over the Reds (35-22).
The Pirates trailed 4-0 after the Reds put a four-spot on the board in the top of the first, but clawed their way back into the game.
Five relievers for Pittsburgh pitched 10 scoreless innings that allowed Snider to win it in the eleventh and avoid the sweep.
Garrett Jones tied things up in the bottom of the eighth with a two-out two-run homer.
Mat Latos was looking to improve to 6-0 for Cincinnati and pitched six innings, allowing two runs and struck out seven for the no-decision.
Justin Wilson picked up the win in relief for Pittsburgh.
