According to a statement from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, the 27-year-old actress was arrested after she caused an unspecified disturbance in the 200 block of Avenida De Los Arboles in Thousand Oaks, California on Monday night.

“Deputies investigated the incident and determined that she met the criteria of 5150 W&I (California Welfare & Institutions Code). She was detained and taken for a mental health evaluation,” the statement concludes.

The 5150 code allows individuals to be placed in protective custody against their will if they’re determined to be a danger to themselves or others.  You may recall that Britney Spears was placed on a 5150 hold in January of 2008 when she had her widely-publicized meltdown.

TMZ reports that the alleged disturbance that drew the attention of deputies was a small fire Bynes set in a driveway. After the fire department responded, they reportedly found Bynes standing next to the fire.

Bynes, who has previously been arrested for reckless endangerment, possession of marijuana and a DUI, has displayed erratic behavior in recent months, including tweeting provocative photos of herself and tweeting often nasty remarks about celebrities and others.
