Murray became the first British man to win the event since Fred Perry did it back in 1936. Murray suffered a heartbreaking loss in last year’s final to Roger Federer. Despite Djokovic’s best efforts, there was no stopping Murray.

“For the last four of five years, it’s been very, very tough, very stressful,” Murray said. “The few days before the tournament, really difficult as well. I mean, the last two days are not easy. Because it’s just kind of everywhere you go. It’s so hard to avoid everything because of how big this event is, but also because of the history and no Brit having won.”

Meanwhile, Djokovic suffers the disappointing loss. But even in defeat, he still realizes the magnitude of Murray’s win.

“I know how much it means to the whole country,” Djokovic said. “Well done. I am aware of the pressure [on Murray]. To pull out a championship tournament after being in the finals a year ago is a great achievement.”

After starting out 0-for-4, Murray has now won two of the last four matches against Djokovic.
