Even though he was officially placed on the 15-day disabled list, Angels manager Mike Scioscia says that the first baseman could miss “a significant amount of time.”

The issue with Pujols is that he has a partially torn plantar fascia in his left foot which has hampered him for most of this season.  It was aggravated Friday night while running to first base in the ninth inning of a 6-4 loss to the Oakland Athletics.

If rehab doesn’t go well, Pujols could wind up missing the rest of the season.  The 33-year-old is hitting .258 with 17 home runs and 64 RBIs.

Outfielder Kole Calhoun was called up from Triple-A Salt Lake to take his place on the active roster.
