(LAS VEGAS) — Cirque du Soleil has tackled The Beatles and Elvis — to varying results — but on Saturday, it went a step further by taking on the Michael Jackson legacy.
Michael Jackson One had its official “gala” premiere with two shows — the first for celebrities, the second for the media.
Justin Bieber was among the celebs at the show, tweeting afterward, “Just watched #MJONE by @Cirque in Vegas. MJ was the greatest that ever did it. the show reminded us of that. #ManintheMirror was incredible!”
Bieber was referring to a holographic portrayal of Jackson during “Man in the Mirror,” which is billed as one of the evening’s high points.
Michael Jackson One is more concentrated on dance than acrobatics, which sets it apart from most Cirque shows. However, there are also a handful of circus scenes that come toward the end of the show.
