Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Says Jason Garrett Not On Hot Seat

SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1374414436218Ronald Martinez/Getty Images(OXNARD, Calif.) — Dallas owner and general manager Jerry Jones told reporters on Saturday that head coach Jason Garrett is not facing an “Armageddon year”, even if the Cowboys fail to make the post-season for a fourth consecutive year.

“I look to the future with Jason,” Jones said. “Not just through his contract that we are sitting here with right now. I think he has a couple of years left on his contract, but that’s not a thought. It is not what it is implied when you say, ‘Well this is an Armageddon year for him’. It is not that with me.”

Since taking over for Wade Phillips during the 2010 season, Garrett is 21-19. In the past two seasons, the Cowboys have been eliminated from playoff contention in the final game of the regular season.

One change for Garrett this season will be offensive coordinator Bill Callahan taking over play-calling responsibilities.
