Fights Breaks Out After US Open of Surfing, 8 Arrested
Published at(LOS ANGELES) — A fight after the U.S. Open of Surfing at Huntington Beach, Calif. escalated Sunday night, resulting in the arrests of eight people, numerous injuries and widespread property damage.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the fight began after someone was hit by a ketchup bottle that had been thrown from a second story restaurant. A fight ensued and a crowd smashed windows, damaged cars, tore down signs and tipped over portable toilets.
Police were forced to use tear gas and non-lethal rounds to get the crowd to disperse.
