Former Red Sox & Brewers 1B George Scott Passes Away At 69

7 29 13%20Scott%20A?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1375137601338Focus on Sport/Getty Images(GREENVILLE, Miss.) — Former Boston Red Sox and Milwaukee Brewers first baseman George “Boomer” Scott passed away on Sunday. He was 69.

During his 14-year career, Scott batted .268 with 271 home runs and 1,051 RBIs in 2,034 regular season games. He led the American League in home runs (36) and RBIs (109) in 1975 as a member of the Brewers.

In 1967, he hit .303 with 19 homers and 82 RBIs as a member of Boston ‘s “Impossible Dream” team which went to the World Series.

Scott won eight gold gloves, including six consecutive seasons from 1971 through 1976. He finished his career with the Kansas City Royals and New York Yankees.
