(NEW YORK) — Manu Ginobili announced via Twitter on Wednesday that he will be returning to the San Antonio Spurs.
“Thrilled to announce that as I had always hoped, I’m gonna stay with the @spurs for two more years. #gospursgo,” the soon-to-be 36-year-old Argentine tweeted.
Ginobili has spent his entire 11-year NBA career with the Spurs.
Contracts are not allowed to be signed until July 10, but teams can agree to terms with free agents prior to the date.
Ginobili will return to the Spurs, who lost the NBA Finals in seven games to the Miami Heat last month. He is coming off a season in which his scoring average dipped to its lowest since his rookie campaign in 2002-03.
