According to the latest advisory from the National Weather Service, the storm is moving west northwest with maximum sustained winds of 45 miles per hour.  A tropical storm warning is in effect for Hawaii County, Maui County, Oahu Kauai and Niihau.

Flossie is expected to bring heavy rain, with up to 15 inches possible in some areas.  A flood watch has been issued for the entire state.  High surf up to 20 feet is also possible on the eastern beaches of the islands.

The storm will mark the first time in more than 20 years that a tropical storm or hurricane hits Hawaii.  Hurricane Iniki, a category 4 storm with winds of 145 mph, made landfall in 1992.

Flossie is forecast to move out of the state sometime Tuesday morning, but flooding, mudslides or rockslides could continue into Tuesday night.
