(IDAHO FALLS, ID) – A heat wave hammering the Intermountain West has shattered records in eastern Idaho.  With the region poised for hot weather all week, several eastern Idaho cities broke records on Sunday and Monday. Pocatello reached 101 degrees on Monday, breaking its old record of 98 set in 1990. In Idaho Falls, temperatures reached 97, two degrees higher than its record from 23 years ago. The heat wave has had a major effect on other parts of the region, too. In Stanley, temperatures reached 94 degrees, breaking the previous record of 86 back in 2001.
