The deal is worth $53 million, with $41.5 million guaranteed, according to ESPN. Stafford’s previous deal had two years remaining at $23.5 million.

“Nobody is going to work harder than me to get this team going in the right direction, winning games, and going to the playoffs multiple years in a row,” Stafford said.

The Lions selected Stafford out of Georgia with the first overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft. In 45 games with Detroit, he has passed for 12,807 yards with 80 touchdowns against 54 interceptions.
