The 49-year-old Jiminez shot for par on day two at the British Open.  He stands three-under for the tourney at the halfway mark.  Behind Jiminez is a pack of four hungry players just one shot back of the lead.  They are Tiger Woods, Lee Westwood, Henrik Stenson, and Dustin Johnson.

“I’m playing very solid,” Jiminez said. “In these conditions, it’s not easy. With these pin positions, it’s very, very tough to get in close.”  If Jiminez holds on to win, he would become to oldest major champion ever.

Woods finished Day 2 at the British Open 2-under 71 on Friday and was pleased with the way things went.

“It was difficult out there today,” Woods said. “The wind obviously is a completely different direction than it was yesterday. On top of that we’ve had quite a bit of moisture on the greens overnight [because of light watering].”  Woods is looking for his first major win since 2008.

Day one leader Zach Johnson shot a 4-over 75 on Friday to fall into a four-way tie for sixth place.

36 holes remain as the players who made the cut continue their quest for the title on Saturday.
