(BOSTON) — A standing ovation for Yankees closer Mariano Rivera at Fenway Park on Saturday.
With New York leading Boston 5-2 entering the bottom of the ninth, the all-time saves leader came out of the bullpen and received cheers from Red Sox fans.
The 13-time All-Star allowed one hit and struck out two to secure his 31st save of the season and 639th of his career. He has now recorded 57 saves against Boston with 35 of them coming at Fenway.
The 43-year-old Rivera is set to retire at the end of the year, after 19 big league seasons.
