“We brought it back because the people wanted it.  It’s back by popular demand, as they say,” Cannon told ABC News Radio at the American Black Film Festival last month. “There were Facebook campaigns, a lot of tweeting going on [via] Twitter for people to bring this show back.”

Cannon also said that previous Wild ‘N Out comedians Kevin Hart and DeRay Davis will join him in the reboot.  Improv comedian Jacob Williams and rapper Timothy DeLaGhetto are among the new faces joining the cast.

Wild ‘N Out, which aired on MTV from 2005 to 2009, was a go-to series for hip-hop’s newest rappers and up-and-coming comedians who wanted to test their improv chops.  Cannon said Wild N’ Out’s fifth season will continue to foster new talent.

“I traveled the entire country over the last year looking for new, funny, improv, hip-hop comedic faces,” Cannon said.  “And I think we found some definite stars.”

Wild ‘N Out returns on MTV2 Tuesday, July 9, at 11 p.m. ET/PT.
