Parasites in Swimming Holes Causing Rashes

(BLACKFOOT, ID) – Public health officials are cautioning area residents about parasites in local swimming holes. They say the microscopic bugs have been causing allergic reactions and rashes for swimmers at Jensen’s Grove in Blackfoot. The parasites are most common in shallow water and are carried by snails and birds. Swimmers are advised to shower as soon as possible and to not feed waterfowl near areas where people play in the water.
