But now that he’s with the New Orleans Pelicans, he’s willing to come off the bench if it means being part of a winning team.

“I have never been worried about where I am playing,” Evans told Sporting News when asked about if he would come off the bench. “I am just happy to be in the situation and that everything has been worked out.”

“When the season starts, I don’t know how things will go,” Evans added. “Whatever role I am playing, I am definitely looking forward to it. I am going to go out there and play hard and try to win games.”

At the start of free agency, Evans signed a four-year deal with the Pelicans worth $44 million. He had spent his entire career with the Sacramento Kings, but the team never won more than 28 games during Evans’ time with the team.

The Pelicans now have Jrue Holiday, Eric Gordon, Anthony Davis, and Evans to make up a promising young core. Evans has started all but 10 games in his career, but where exactly Evans fits in the with the Pelicans remains to be seen. The team also has sophomore guard Austin Rivers, who was tenth pick in draft last year.
