Plane Crash in Alaska Kills Ten

Hemera/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Ten people were killed late Sunday morning when their plane crashed at Soldotna Airport in Alaska.
Police in Soldotna said that by the time they reached the air taxi on the runway it was fully engulfed in flames, according to the Kenai-Soldotna Peninsula Clarion newspaper. The single-engine De Havilland Otter was registered to Rediske Air, Inc. of Nikiski.
The pilot and and all nine passengers died in the crash, which was believed to have occurred during takeoff at around 11:20 a.m. local time.
Only the pilot, Willy Rediske, as so far been identified. Rediske was the president of the aviation company to which the plane was registered.
Soldotna is a city in Kenai Peninsula Borough, Alaska, about 150 miles southwest of Anchorage.
