(BALTIMORE) — After being released on June 11 for not accepting a pay cut, fullback Vonta Leach has returned to the Baltimore Ravens.
The three-time Pro Bowler signed a two-year contract with the Ravens Monday.
“He’s in shape and ready to go. And we’re pleased to have him back,” Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said. “Having Vonta back gives you a physical presence for sure with your offense, short yardage, goal line. Also, it’s a leadership presence.”
Leach’s return isn’t a total surprise. After releasing Leach in June, Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said there was still a chance Leach could return.
After drawing interest from teams such as the Miami Dolphins, Houston Texans, and New York Giants, Leach decided a return to Baltimore was best for him.
“Obviously we’ve been hopeful that this would happen all along,” Harbaugh said. “This is not something that we weren’t hoping for, and it worked out in our favor.”
