(MORELAND, ID) – Snake River Junior High School has been awarded a $250,000 grant from AmeriCorps. The school was one of only 13 nationwide to qualify. Administrators say failing grades and a lack of finances have hurt the school over the past five years, especially after moving to a four-day school week. The funds will be used to sponsor after school activities at the Blackfoot Community Center to give kids more help with homework. They hope the program will put the school back on track to meeting core standards.
