The Kings will send Evans to the Pelicans via sign-and-trade, with the Kings taking back guard Greivis Vasquez and receiving two second round draft picks.

Portland will acquire center Robin Lopez and guard Terrel Harris from the Pelicans, while shipping rookie Jeff Withey to New Orleans to complete the deal.  Sources say that the Blazers also will be required to pay the $1,568,999 trade kicker triggered in Lopez’s contract because he’s being dealt.

Evans is a restricted free agent, and was prepared to sign an offer sheet with the Pelicans for four years and $44 million.  The Pelicans have been pursuing trades all week in order to clear the necessary cap space to land Evans.  The team also traded for All-Star point guard Jrue Holiday on draft night.

The deal will not become official until July 10, the first day teams and free agents can make deals official after the league’s annual moratorium is lifted.
