Holden suffered the injury in the 18th minute of the United States’ 1-0 victory over Panama in the Gold Cup Final Sunday.

Holden took a hit to his left knee when he collided with Panama’s Alberto Quintero, but he was clutching his right knee when he fell to the ground.

This is Holden’s third major knee injury in two years.
“We are absolutely devastated for Stuart,” U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann said. “He is such a great part of our team on the field and the locker room. He worked tremendously hard to recover from previous injuries and had really come back into form.”

Despite the injury, the 27-year-old Holden is staying positive. After finding out his diagnosis Monday, Holden tweeted: “I will rise again! Big love and thx to all the @officialbwfc and @ussoccer supporters, we will conquer once more. Lets do this .”
