(OAKLAND, Calif.) — The Golden State Warriors signed free agent center Jermaine O’Neal to a $2 million, one-year contract on Tuesday.
O’Neal averaged 8.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 55 games for the Phoenix Suns last season. He will provide veteran leadership to a young and talented Warriors team.
O’Neal is a six-time All-Star and ranks fifth among active NBA players in blocked shots (1,780). He’s appeared in the playoffs in 13 of his 17 NBA seasons.
Andrew Bogut is expected to be the starting center.
