World’s Smallest Deer Born in NYC Zoo

iStockphoto/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) -- The world’s smallest deer was born in a New York City zoo in May, the Wildlife Conservation Society announced Monday.

The fawn weighs only one pound and can grow up to be as much as 20 pounds and 14 inches tall. It is an endangered Southern Pudu, native to Chile and Argentina. Southern Pudus are the smallest deer species in the world, according to the announcement.
