(TAMPA, Fla.) — New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, who is recovering from off-season hip surgery, is set to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday.
The 37-year-old Rodriguez is scheduled to start at third base Tuesday night for Single-A Charleston, where he will play a minimum of three innings.
Last week, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman publically took Rodriguez to task after the 14-time All-Star tweeted that he had been cleared to play by his hip surgeon, despite not getting the green light by team doctors.
Rodriguez has been working out at the team’s spring training complex in Tampa.
