Jenkins was a first-round pick by the Niners in the 2012 Draft, and they were hoping for big things out of him. Instead, Jenkins didn’t catch a single pass and was a non factor his entire rookie season.

The pressure was on Jenkins to come out and start the preseason strong, but failed to impress. He did catch an 11-yard pass, but then fumbled it away.

It was hardly the star Jenkins was hoping for, but he’s not too worried.

“Hopefully, I’ve made some strides,” Jenkins told CSNBayarea.com. “It’s the first preseason game. We have three more year. It’s a long year. No need to panic and get all discouraged. Just go to keep watching film.”

With injuries to fellow wide receivers Michael Crabtree and Mario Manningham, Jenkins has a chance to show the coaches just why he was a first-round pick.

In his senior season out of Illinois, Jenkins caught 90 passes for 1,276 yards and eight touchdowns.
