Allmendinger is now 2 for 2 this year in Nationwide races this season. He took the lead on the 64h lap and never looked back.

He admitted he needed to shake off a rusty start before gaining momentum.

“This thing was, being under yellow for so long, there was so much tire buildup on the edge of the racetrack from all the excess rubber, so it was basically just loose for a couple laps,” Allmendinger said. “For the first three or four laps I’d struggle then I’d really get goin. After that it was a great car do drive.”

Meanwhile, rounding out the rest of the top-five were Michael McDowell, Sam Hornish Jr., Max Papis, and Brian Vickers.

With his third-place finish, Hornish Jr. kept his points lead in the standings. He leads Elliott Sadler by just 13 points.
