(CLEVELAND) — Anthony Bennett, the top pick in this year’s NBA draft, has signed his rookie contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Terms of the deal were not announced, but according to sources it can be worth up to $22.8 million over four years.
The 6-foot-8, 240-pound Bennett averaged 16.1 points and 8.1 rebounds as a freshman at UNLV last year. He’s currently recovering from shoulder surgery, but the Cavaliers believe that he will be their starting power forward on opening night.
The Cavaliers have had a busy offseason, drafting Bennett while also signing Andrew Bynum, Jarrett Jack, and Earl Clark. If all goes well, they could contend for one of the final few playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.
