(NEW YORK) — If you’re thinking about buying a new iPhone, the wait may soon be over. Two new iPhone models may be on the market as early as next month.
Apple Inc. asked assembler Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. to start shipping a new high-end and low-end iPhone starting in September, the Wall Street Journal reports.
In June, Apple suppliers began working on components for a standard iPhone with metal casing as well as a less-expensive version.
An Apple event is set for Sept. 10. If both models debut at once, it’ll be a break in tradition for the company. However, it is unconfirmed whether both devices will launch on the same day.
The company is expected to unveil the next generation iPhone, the iPhone 5S, accompanied by rumors of a gold-colored option.
