Ball State QB Keith Wenning Has Left Knee Surgery

Joe Robbins/Getty Images(MUNCIE, Ind.) — Ball State starting quarterback Keith Wenning underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Saturday, but is expected to be ready for the season opener against Illinois State on Aug. 29.
During his first three seasons under center for the Cardinals, Wenning has tossed for 7,254 yards and 57 touchdowns. Last year, he was ranked 27th nationally in completion percentage (65.4) and 31st in yards per game (257.9).
Ball State went 9-4 last season, including 6-2 in the Mid-American Conference. They were defeated by UCF in the Beef ‘O’Brday’s Bowl, 38-17.
