Buccaneers’ Doug Martin Says He’s Fine After Hit to Head

Henderson/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ players and fans can breath a sigh of relief as running back Doug Martin say’s he’s OK after getting hit in the head during the team’s preseason game on Friday night.

Against teh New England Patriots, Martin took a blow to teh head by defensive end Chandler Jones’ knee while pass blocking.

According to the Tampa Times, Martin passed all concussion tests.

“It was a tough play,” Martin told the paper. “Things happen.”

“I think Doug is going to be fine, Bucs head coach Greg Schiano also told the paper. “He got hit in the head but he cleared really quickly. I saw him at halftime and he was fine. He was going to play one more play.”

The Buccaneers are expected heavily rely on Martin this season as they did during his rookie campaign in 2012.

Martin was the 31st pick in the 2012 Draft by the Buccaneers and quickly left his mark on the NFL. In 2012, he rushed for 1,454 yards with 11 touchdowns. He also caught 49 passes for 472 yards.
