Cody Ross Dislocates Hip
(PHOENIX) -- Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Cody Ross dislocated his right hip while trying to run out a grounder in the first inning of the Diamondbacks' 9-5 loss to the New York Mets on Sunday.
Ross hit a grounder to third and tried to beat out the throw. Right before he reached the first base bag Ross stumbled and tripped over the base, immediately crumpling to the ground in pain. Ross was then carted off the field and taken to a local hospital.
"They took him to the hospital and put it back in," Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said. "They are doing more tests on him to make sure there is no fracture and just evaluate the damage. It is possible he could have surgery, but they have not determined that yet."
When Gibson was asked if Ross' season was over he said, "I would imagine."
The 32-year-old Ross is hitting .278 with eight home runs and 38 RBIs this season.
