(POCATELLO, ID) – Contractor J.H. Kelly is filing a federal lawsuit against Hoku/Tianwei, alleging fraud and racketeering. The company is owed at least $25 million for building the still unfinished polysilicon plant in Pocatello. Ground was broken on the plant in 2007, and it would’ve employed more than 200 full time workers. However, once the company was purchased by the China-based Tianwei New Energy company in 2009, plans and finances quickly soured. The company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy last month. J.H. Kelly officials say they’ll continue to work with the city of Pocatello to make the best out of a bad situation.
