Demi, as well as some of her family and friends, have traveled to Kenya on “Me to We Volunteer Trip,” which offers international volunteer experiences in destinations around the world.  She and her group are volunteering in communities supported by Free the Children, Me to We’s charity partner.  Among their activities: helping to build a new school, learning about local crafts, and learning about the hours-long walks that young women endure each day to provide clean water for their families.

In a statement, Demi said, “With 21 being a milestone birthday, I wanted a memorable and meaningful way to celebrate, rather than throw a big birthday bash.”

She added, “I knew traveling with Me to We and volunteering with Free The Children would give me the opportunity to have a life-changing experience I would never forget, with the people closest to me.”

Demi has worked with Free the Children in the past, raising more than $50,000 for its international development projects through her various charity initiatives.
