Derek Jeter Headed Back to DL
Published at(CHICAGO) — Back to the DL for the Captain. The New York Yankees placed shortstop Derek Jeter back on the disabled list on Monday.
The news comes two days after an MRI revealed a Grade 1 strain on his right calf. Jeter was placed on the 15-day disabled list.
“It’s probably a better idea to put him on the DL than to test it in nine days, 10 days, 11 days, and then have a setback,” manager Joe Girardi said on Monday.
Jeter has only played five games this season due to various injuries.
“It’s been terrible — it’s been like a nightmare,” Jeter said on Sunday. “The whole season has been a nightmare.”
