Education Task Force Seeks to Raise Wages for Teachers

(BOISE, ID) – A bipartisan education task force has come up with several options for improving Idaho’s public schools, but most of them come with a hefty price tag. One plan would raise the minimum yearly salary for full-time teachers from $31,000 to $40,000. Another proposal would restore approximately $83 million in operational revenue that districts have lost over the past five years. Officials say boosting some salaries into the $60,000 range could help with recruiting and retaining better teachers.
