With rookie running back Le’ Veon Bell expected to miss 6-8 weeks with a mid-foot strain, the Steelers add some depth at the position.
The 26-year-old Jones was picked in the first-round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He played five seasons in Dallas before signing with the Eagles this offseason. For his career, Jones has rushed for 2,728 yards, averaging 4.8 yards per carry, and 11 touchdowns.
Jones joins a Steelers backfield that includes second-year back Jonathan Dwyer and Isaac Redman. Dwyer led Pittsburgh with 623 rushing yards last season, while Redman added 410.
The Eagles receive the 23-year-old Robinson, who made the Steelers as a special teams player last year as an undrafted rookie out of Temple.
