Inbee Park Through First Round at British Open
Published at(ST. ANDREWS, Scotland) — In her quest of becoming the first ever male or female to win four Grand Slams in a calendar year, Inbee Park shot 3-under 69.
Park admitted she was nervous before her first tee shot and stumbled on the back nine.
“I played very good on the front nine and then I had a little bit shaky on the back nine,” Park said. “But I still feel really good about the game. I was 6‑under through ten holes and that means I could do the same thing tomorrow.”
Park bogeyed on 13 and 15, double bogeyed on 16, and three-putted on 17 to finish the day.
“There was a couple of bad drives and a couple of bad putts on the back nine, but it’s the first round, and could have been much better,” she added. “A little bit disappointing, but I’m glad that I’ve done that in the first round instead of the final round.”
