Back in May, Goodson was arrested for allegedly possessing a semi-automatic handgun as well as marijuana.

Goodson’s suspension will cost him $235,000. He can return to the team on September 30, the same day the team plays the Tennessee Titans.

He has been with the team sporadically during OTA’s and training camp.

“I’ve been away from the team to take care of some important personal things,” Goodson said in a statement. “The time was helpful to me and now that I am back, I am going to do everything I can to contribute to the team. I appreciate all of the support from the Jets organization and I’m thankful to be back with my teammates.”

This is Goodson’s third NFL team in four seasons in the league. He’s encountered legal troubles before during his pro career.

Last season with the Oakland Raiders, Goodson rushed for 221 yards on 35 attempts.
