(ANGLESEY, North Wales) — The Duke of Cambridge kicked off the 135-mile Ring O’ Fire marathon in Anglesey, North Wales, Friday morning by bringing along a surprise visitor, The Duchess.
This was Kate Middleton’s first public appearance since giving birth to baby George at St. Mary’s Hospital in London July 22. The duchess donned skinny jeans, looking as glamorous as ever, showing she’s shed that baby weight.
But there was no sighting of the newest addition to the royal family.
“The next time we see him will be at his christening,” ABC News royal contributor Victoria Murphy said. “Kate and William want to protect Prince George from the media spotlight as much as possible.”
The family of three will be moving into their new home soon, apartment 1A at Kensington Palace, the childhood home of Prince William, 31, who did not run Friday’s marathon.
Kate, 31, was also spotted Aug. 26 grocery shopping on her own on at a market on the island of Anglesey, where her husband, Prince William, has been stationed as a search-and-rescue pilot with the Royal Air Force. The new mom appeared to have a bottle of wine and some pizza in her grocery cart.
“Kate and William are completely like any other young couple in the U.K.,” Murphy said. “They are not having a nanny at the moment and not having a maternity nurse.”
“Kate is getting some help from her mom, like anyone who has a baby does. She very much wants to do it herself,” Murphy said.
But what about their sidekick, Uncle Harry? The world’s most eligible bachelor Prince Harry has made no secret of his desire to settle down.
The rumor mill is in overdrive about his latest flame, Cressida Bonas, who is gracing the cover of British high society glossy magazine Tatler in October.
“She’s certainly very comfortable around royalty,” Murphy said. “She’s very aristocratic. She’s not from Kate Middleton’s middle-class background.”
Many are curious whether the dashing Prince Harry is going to get on bended knee to pop the question to Cressida.
“Cressida could very well be the one, but I don’t think he’ll propose right away, I’m afraid,” Murphy said.
