“Kick-Ass 2,” “The Butler,” “Paranoia” and “Jobs” Open Friday

Kick-Ass 2: In the sequel to the 2010 superhero satire flick, a high school senior named Dave joins a group of ordinary “superheroes,” Justice Forever.  They are threatened by an evil league of characters led by a villain whose name we can’t mention here.  Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Jim Carrey star.  Rated R.  [Click here to read a review]

Lee Daniels’ The Butler: The much-hyped drama is based on the true story of an African-American butler at the White House who served eight presidents, beginning with Harry Truman in the mid-20th century.  Forest Whitaker is the titular character, who serves seven presidents in the film.  Oprah Winfrey, Terrence Howard, Jane Fonda, John Cusack, Robin Williams, James Marsden, and Cuba Gooding Jr. also star.  Rated PG-13.  [Click here to read a review]

Paranoia: Liam Hemsworth is a young man at the center of a bitter feud between two tech billionaires, played by Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman.  Rated PG-13.

Jobs: Ashton Kutcher plays Steve Jobs in this biopic of the Apple visionary.  Dermot Mulroney, Josh Gad, Lukas Haas and Matthew Modine also star.  Rated PG-13.
