Kids Suffering from ‘Gameboy Back’
(NEW YORK) -- Orthopedic experts say they're seeing an increasing number of young patients suffering from a self-inflicted condition called "Gameboy Back" -- caused from stooping over portable computer games.
The Telegraph reports kids are suffering from serious spinal problems such as curvature of the spine and even slipped discs, all from playing the addictive games for too long -- and slouching while they do so.
In the Dutch medical magazine Medisch Contact, orthopedic surgeon Piet van Loon suggests the devices shouldn't be banned, but parents should pay attention to the postures their young gamers use while they play.
