Head coach Jurgen Klinsmann welcomed Landon Donovan back to the squad. Donovan didn’t play in the team’s last 10 qualifying matches but did play and star for the Americans in this year’s Gold Cup.

Klinsmann also named defender John Brooks and forward Aron Johannsson to the 23-man roster.

Some players who didn’t make the team include Chris Wondolowski, Joe Corona, Terrence Boyd and Clarence Goodson.

The Americans currently have a 12-game winning streak and lead the final CONCACAF qualifying group.

The U.S. will start qualifying play on Sept. 6 against Costa Rica, a place they’ve never won at before.
