Kobe Bryant Continues Recovery from Achillies Injury

Doug Pensinger/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Los Angeles Lakers All-Star and five-time champion Kobe Bryant continues to recover from an Achillies injury that he suffered at the end of last season.
Bryant’s return next season is still questionable, but the 17-year pro believes he’ll be back on the court soon enough.
“I don’t know if I’ll be ready opening night, I really don’t know,” Bryant told ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel in an interview on Thursday night. “I know I’m really ahead of schedule. I’m planning on coming back as soon as possible.”
Bryant is set to become a free agent next season and has said he doesn’t plan on taking a pay cut.
When asked by Kimmel if he’ll be a Laker for life, Bryant responded, “Yeah.”
The Lakers open the season on Oct. 29.
