Micron Cutting Jobs

(BOISE, ID) – Micron Technology is laying off five percent of its workforce, including those working at the company’s design and research headquarters in Boise. With 30,000 workers worldwide, that amounts to about 1,500 layoffs, with “heavy” cuts expected to hit employees in the Gem State. The move comes after Micron’s purchase of Elpida, a Japanese competitor, last month. Officials say the layoffs will come with the offer of severance packages.
