The 18-year-old Franklin won a record sixth gold medal at the world championships Sunday, after swimming the first leg for the Americans in the 400-meter medley relay.

The Americans finished the race almost two seconds ahead of second-place Australia to take home the gold.

With her sixth gold, Franklin becomes the winningest female swimmer ever at worlds, breaking Tracy Caulkins and Libby Trickett’s record of five golds.

Franklin also joins Michael Phelps, Mark Spitz, Ian Thorpe and Kristin Otto as the only swimmers to win as many as six golds at either worlds or an Olympics.
